Jackson Thomason Takes UCRA 602/Sportsman Win at EAMS

Phenix City, AL (8/5/17) --- Jackson Thomason of Smiths Station, Alabama started 2nd only to retake the lead on lap 13 when the race leader and current UCRA 602/Sportsman Mini Series points leader Richie Stephens blew a tire. Thomason in his "RBC, Jack Brown, Cherokee Roofing, JT Welding & Fabrication Russ Ogletree and Kirk Loudy prepared machine" held off subsequent challenges to pick up his 1st win of UCRA competition and 2nd overall win of his season Saturday at East Alabama Motor Speedway. Stephens started 3rd, took the lead on lap 2, was pulling away when he had a flat on the 13th lap. He would finish a close 2nd to Thomason. Keith McGuire started 7th, and actually challenged Thomason for the lead until Stephens go back past with 2 to go. Recent Fort Payne Motor Speedway winner Jason Price started 8th and ran a solid race moving into the top 5 around mid way while Roger Arnett moved steadily up through the pack taking 5th. The next $600 to-WIN / 25 Lap UCRA 602/Sportsman Mini Series event will be Round # 9 back at Fort Payne, Alabama Saturday August 19th in two weeks.
