Lowe Lands First-Career UCRA Victory
Crossville, TN (10/20/17) --- Hometown favorite Jesse Lowe of Crossville, Tenn., held off fast qualifier Anthony White of Clinton, Tenn., following a late-race caution for his first career United Crate Racing Alliance victory Friday at Crossville Speedway. Cruz Skinner of Oxford, Ala., climbed to third in the waning laps as Lowe earned $2,500. for the 40 lap opening weekend season finale event Lowe is Crossville's track champion and 5Jmotorsports.com team didn't disappoint as the #5J "Xtreme Pressure Washing, Creative Kitchens, Hampton Backhoe, Gondolas Steakhouse, Martel Sign Company, McBurnett Insurance, Mighty Muffler, Twisted Metal, Wyatt Builders, Autozone of Crossville and Crossroads Lawn Care" sponsored CVR Racecar powered by Eagle Racing Engines parked it in Victory Lane.
Lowe's first UCRA victory comes after registering six runner-up finishes this season, a season stat of 5 in a row in the midst of the season. Twelve of the 24 starters finished the race. A debuting Jeremy Shannon (2018 Rookie Condinder) slowed with three laps remaining to bring out the final caution, setting up a dash to the finish. Chattanooga's Ronnie Johnson slowed to bring out a caution with nine laps remaining. after contact while contending for a Top 5 finish. After pitting, the two-time Dirt Track World Champion tagged the rear of the field and rallied back to sixth overall. There have now been nine different winners in 13 races.
Action continues Saturday at Crossville with the tour's season finale. Entering the weekend, Seymur Tenn., Rusty Ballenger had 294 points to lead over Rookie continder Jesse Lowe (259), rookie Kyle Courtney (238), Chip Brindle (229) and Jason Manley (194) in the UCRA standings. Heat race winners were: Anthony White, Jesse Lowe, Drew Kennedy of Wartburg, Tenn respectfully.
