Fultz Tops Tazewell's Arnwine Memorial
TAZEWELL, Tenn. (03/29/25) - Travis Fultz of Harrogate, Tenn. kicked off the 2025 racing season on the right foot by earning his largest paying win of his career in front of his home track crowd. Nineteen Crate Late Model drivers signed in for the 4th Annual Jim Arnwine Memorial sanctioned by the United Championship Racing Alliance presented by Casteel Farms. Fultz turned the fastest lap in time trials of 12.423 seconds with Powell, TN’s Josh Collins recording the second fastest lap of 12.459 seconds.
A preliminary six lap Fast Car Dash determined the first three rows of the forty lap feature. Fultz led every lap of the dash followed by Collins, Aaron Guinn, Forrest Trent, Austin Atkins and Clyde Overholt. Philip Thompson and Bradley Lewelling would win their respective heat races to earn the seventh and eighth starting positions.
With the drop of the green flag Fultz would take control of the lead while Collins, Trent, Guinn and Overholt jockeyed for spots. The caution would come out for a spinning Joshua Chesney on lap four. Back under green Fultz began putting distance between himself and Collins. On lap seven Trent would shove Collins aside for second and on the next lap National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame member Ronnie Johnson would move past Lewelling for sixth. On lap ten Guinn retired from the event giving Johnson the fifth spot.
By lap thirteen Fultz had caught the tail of the field and began dealing with lap traffic. With Trent and Collins trying to chase him down Fultz was slicing his way through the slower cars. Leading every lap of the feature Fultz collected the $3,011 piloting the Phillips Excavating, Quality Masonry, Made Well Construction, Hopson Racing Parts and Fabrication, Fastlane Sign & Graphics sponsored, DJ’s Performance Race Engine powered CVR Race Car.
